Christopher McDonald, who is perhaps best known for his role as Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore,” has become the latest in a long string of celebrity DWI arrests. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, McDonald was arrested for driving while under the influence in Wilmington on October 16, 2013. The actor’s blood alcohol content was .15 at the time of his arrest – almost double the legal limit!
TMZ reported that McDonald was held at the New Hanover County Jail until 7:20 a.m. when he was released on a $1,000 bond. The actor was in North Carolina filming a movie at the time of his arrest, and he is now expected to appear at a court hearing on December 11. Although McDonald is only one of the estimated 1.4 million people who will be arrested for a DWI this year, his level of fame will hopefully help shed some light on the fact that driving while under the influence is a very serious problem.
