Why You Should Go Vegan: 6 No-BS Reasons

Veganism

Veganism might sound like a fad that millennials and Gen Z are latching onto for attention, at least to those looking in from the outside.

However, there’s no fad when it comes to going vegan. It’s the morally and ethically correct thing to do.

By the end of this blog post, we’ll have shared with you 6 solid reasons why you should go vegan. So, let’s get into it!

6 Reason to Try Veganism

1) Better Health

A vegan diet offers several health benefits, including a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. Vegans often have lower body mass indexes (BMI) and improved digestion due to a high intake of fiber-rich plant foods.

Studies show that plant-based diets can lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and improve insulin sensitivity. Antioxidants and phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables also contribute to cancer prevention. These diets are associated with increased energy levels and overall better nutrient intake.

2) Reduces Animal Suffering

The usual argument made against veganism is that animals eat other animals in the wild, so why can’t we, especially since we have the means necessary to do it? People often cite our canine teeth as a justification.

But it’s convenient to cherry-pick what animals do in the wild and compare it to us. A lion would probably sniff the behind of its friend if it wanted, and a lion would also likely kill a cub when taking over a new pride.

The only real reason it seems we eat animals is that we love the taste. Killing animals for a few moments of pleasure, which is fleeting, doesn’t hold up ethically.

3) Ethical Consistency

If you believe in minimizing harm and promoting compassion, veganism aligns your actions with these values. It’s about living in a way that reduces suffering and respects the rights of all living beings.

Ethical consistency means applying your values across the board, and veganism is a key part of that.

4) Food Safety

Vegan diets eliminate the risk of diseases transmitted through animal products, like certain types of foodborne illnesses.

By avoiding animal products, you reduce the risk of exposure to pathogens that can cause serious health issues. This is particularly important in a world where food safety is becoming an increasing concern.

5) Avoiding Support for Cruelty

By choosing plant-based options, you can avoid supporting industries that prioritize profit over animal welfare.

The meat and dairy industries are notorious for their inhumane practices, and by going vegan, you take a stand against this cruelty.

6) Conscious Living

Veganism encourages mindfulness about the impact of your choices, promoting a more intentional and ethical lifestyle.

It’s about being aware of how your actions affect the world around you and making decisions that are in line with your values.
