New York, NY, – February 11, 2013 – LaQuan Smith will debut his Fall 2013 collection Bond in the penthouse at Hudson. Smith this season was inspired by a trip he took to Paris. He watched James Bond films on the plane as well as his favorite movie Boomerang coincidentally during one of his trips to a vintage store he stumbled across vintage books with “Bond” like characters on the cover. “There is an element of sophistication, edge, strength and sexiness that these women embody. This season my collection is just a tribute to the women who embrace that.” States Smith “Strange`e, Grace Jones character in the movie Boomerang was crazy/ beautiful I watched that movie everyday when I worked on the collection. This season LaQuan consulted with the famed furrier Nija Furs. Nija furs are the first black owned furrier company. They have worked with everyone from Jean Paul Gaultier to P.Diddy. Walter Steiger provided the shoes again for the collection. The looks are named after characters from the James bond movies. LaQuan mentions “I wanted to put a fun spin on the collection, this season I really had fun creating these pieces”.
LaQuan Smith a celebrated American designer has already graced the pages in magazines such as Vogue, Italian Vogue, Seventeen, Essence and Marie Claire. Smith’s designs have also been a favorite among many celebrates such as Rihanna, Rita Ora Cassie, LaLa Anthony, Selita E. Banks and Lady Gaga.
